Although he probably heard it on TV, my grandpa always said there’s no free lunch so in that case, he might’ve been right. But there are a couple of spots to get a free business card.
And when I say free business card, I don’t mean a digital card or a business card template that’s free. I mean an actual physical in-your-hand business card that you can give to your friends, family, business associates, and most importantly to potential customers.
Now let’s be clear, these free business cards should only be seen as a starting point to get you off the ground today and into your customer’s hands now.
What I’m trying to say is, to lower your expectations.
These free business cards have some limitations. But, the main objective is to get your name, address, phone number, website, and social media listed on the card.
Just so we’re not getting confused here. Many websites are offering free business card templates or designs. Those are actually not free physical business cards. All they are is a pre-existing design available for you to enter your name and address on. They can be useful but they’re not actually free, physical, in your hand business cards.
There are also a few companies out there that will deliver you a free sample business card but it actually is an assortment of paper card stock for you to touch and feel. This is a way to get you to order your business cards from them. Although it’s helpful, it’s not a free business card.

Is there a catch? They place a small, little, simple logo and a short sentence on the backside. But it’s still great if you’re just starting. Use these to drop them off in mailboxes for a local service business like gardening or home cleaning.

Today, I want to tell you there is another option. It’s not the best, I’ll admit that but I’ve done it myself and it worked out fine because it got my business started today.

Print your own.
If you’re like me, the thought of aligning paper in the printer is something I wouldn’t wish upon my worst enemy.
However, I’ve had decent success printing out my business cards.
There are a few different business card paper options but the one I use and recommend is made by Avery. You can get a pack of several perforated sheets so you can easily bend and fold to take them apart.
Now, this becomes an affordable solution only if you have your digital printer preferably a laser printer just to have sharper, smoother printing. But an inkjet can do just fine.
For less than $10 you can have some business cards printed out today and there are free returns if you order from Amazon. I recommend starting with this pack of 120 cards Avery business cards.
Avery has a template that you can access from Microsoft Office and will probably also work in Google Docs.
